Greek restaurant Mythos Kouzina & Grill located in Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT) scooped up the Casual Dining Team of the Year title at Caterer Middle East Awards 2018.

The event took place on Wednesday, May 9 at the Waldorf Astoria, Dubai Palm Jumeirah and the category, which comprised six shortlisted nominees, was presented to the winning team by Pulsar Foodstuff’s general manager Stephen Bennett.

Baker & Spice was recognised with the ‘highly commended’ title for the category.

The Greek restaurant was noticed by the judges for its service standards and food quality despite huge numbers of consumers walking through the doors. With the food reminding people of times spent in the country of its cuisine, 70% of the guests are regulars, and mention the service team by name in online reviews.

Their hard work has resulted in revenue higher than was budgeted for 2017. For this, Mythos’ restaurant manager Eva Pispirigkou credited the team’s success to their roots in the Greek hospitality.

“They’re giving their soul every day. We are a team. We are united. We left our families and friends behind and created a family here at work. And we are working as one and this is the key to our success. Greek hospitality is giving your passion and 100% to something and that is who we are,” Pispirigkou explained.

The restaurant is located in a rather obscure spot in JLT and guests usually have to enter the building lobby in Cluster P and take an elevator down, then walk across a parking lot to find the eatery. Despite that, the footfall is huge for the restaurant.

Pispirigkou told Caterer Middle East that the restaurant is “like a hidden jewel”. “So people are coming because they want to come and experience Mythos and we’re so happy they’re coming to us,” she added, citing the personal guest experience as the key factor for their growing success.

“You know with having worked years in F&B, we are making the people who come feel like they coming home. We know them and they know us and this is why they come back. I know it’s very simple but it’s so important,” she stated.

This year's awards were supported by: platinum sponsor Emaar Hospitality Group; category sponsors A.Ronai, A&T Group Interiors, Bragard, Precision Refrigeration and TSSC, Pulsar Foodstuff, 1765 Gemini; dessert sponsors EMF, Cacao Barry, Callebaut; photobooth sponsor Mintano by Sketches; social media partner Tint; water sponsor Acqua Panna and San Pellegrino; and beverage sponsors MMI, Campari, Fever Tree, and Skyy Vodka.
