Lock, Stock & Barrel lands Bar Team nod for the second time
Triumphantly reclaiming the title of Bar Team of the Year at the Caterer Middle East Awards was Lock, Stock & Barrel, Barsha Heights.
The bar opened in February 2016, and despite having won last year, the judges saw enough evidence to support the outlet’s continued growth.
The venue's bartender Lewis Thompson said: "The reason we have managed to win is because we are the best at what we do, and there is an amazing camaraderie amongst everybody. Even with the opening of the second Lock, Stock [& Barrel] there were concerns initially that we would be cannibalising each other’s business. But that hasn’t been the case."
He added: "Personally, I have worked in the UK and Spain and I have never seen such a closely involved team. And that clearly pours down to our operations and the manner in which we serve our guests."
With an increase in revenue in 2017 versus 2016, while reducing costs and staying consistent with quality, the team has managed an 83% staff retention in the bar, and a 100% retention with the front-of-house team.
Thompson revealed to Caterer Middle East: "There are plans for more outlets to open, and I’m sure we will be entering new markets such as London and other parts of Europe soon."
This was the second win for the venue, with Timmy Olajide winning the title of Bartender of the Year.
The award was presented to the team by 1765 Gemini head of bar division Shelly Speirs, and the highly commended team was revealed to be Lucky Voice. Other finalists included: Azure, Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah; Huddle Sports Bar & Grill, Citymax Hotel Bur Dubai; Jazz Bar & Dining, Hilton Abu Dhabi; and Vault, JW Marriott Marquis Dubai.
