What attracted you to the position of director of F&B at Rixos The Palm Dubai?
I have been in the UAE for four years and always wanted to work on The Palm. Rixos was the best match for me, coming from a distinguished luxury brand. I am looking at stepping up my career and taking up new challenges at a property that allows me to express my creativity.
What knowledge do you bring to the role?
I have worked in Scotland, Greece, Tajikistan and the UAE which gives me an advantage when it comes to staff development and creative thinking to accomplish my goals. I also have two hotel openings under my belt, and am now aiming for the third with the opening of Rixos The Walk, which helped me develop my management style.
What are you most looking forward to as part of this new role?
I am very excited about bringing new ideas which will deliver positive results across all the food and beverage outlets in the hotel. And of course, to work with passionate people — it’s always a win-win experience.
How do you intend to make the property’s F&B more profitable?
Continuous improvement is a vital factor in making profit, especially for this industry. I believe that it always comes down to three things — guests will go back for service, product and experience. By taking advantage of our location, I intend to work on creating events and new concepts that will deliver unique guest experiences to the ever–growing Dubai market.
What is your favourite thing about the outlets you take care of?
My team. It’s inspiring to have a team of young and highly experienced individuals with so much commitment.
Are there any exciting things you will be doing that you can tell us about?
Biber Lounge is getting a facelift to the logo and interior finishings. The menu concept has changed to English and a new cocktail menu has been designed. It will relaunch after Eid and we hope that it will become a great ‘local pub’ for in-house guests and nearby residents. Twilight is a new evening pool–side concept where people can use the pool during hot summer months; it includes towels and two drinks, and will be open every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 6–10pm. We are also launching a number of new promotions across the resort that will appeal to our guests and local residents.
