Maiden Shanghai opens at Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai
Located in the Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai, SKAI-operated Chinese concept Maiden Shanghai debuted on May 4.
This marks the first F&B venture from SKAI and is led by Luo Bing, formerly head chef of Hutong in London.
The menu is meant to take guests on a journey through China, with flavours from four types of Chinese cuisine - Cantonese, Sichuan, Shanghai and Beijing.
Menu highlights include pickled salmon, Bing’s Peking duck, kung pao lobster, Chilean seabass and 'boom boom chicken', along with a selection of dim sum.
The restaurant is spread over three floors - with a restaurant, a bar, and a rooftop lounge, along with three private dining rooms.
The interiors are inspired by Chinese history, with a colour palette of bronze, teal and white alongside a collection of antique chandeliers, lanterns and other decorative features, all sourced from vintage stores across the world. Artwork by Joe Joe Ngai adorns the walls, showcasing some of China's recognisable figures including Sun Yat-sen, the first president and the founding father of the Republic of China, and Anna May Wong, who is widely considered the first Chinese American movie star.
SKAI managing director Aloki Batra said in a statement: "We are excited to open Maiden Shanghai, bringing a home-grown Chinese concept to Dubai. With chef Luo Bing at the helm, we look forward to ensuring it becomes a coveted culinary destination in the city and believe this flagship restaurant is a great start to our new F&B venture."
