Photo cake offers sweet memories
One Fujairah hotel is offering guests the chance to personalise cakes with edible photos and images.
Traditional and speciality cakes at Al Diar Siji Hotel’s lobby lounge Siji Café can now be transformed with edible photos, logos or patterns.
The new promotion follows requests by locals in Fujairah according to the hotel’s public relations officer Arnellie Silvestre
Silvestre said: “We’ve been receiving requests from people in the emirate asking about personalised cakes.
“If you want to make it personal we can now do that for you.”
Any printed image or digital file saved on a CD and USB can be placed on the cakes; the image is then printed onto rice paper in edible ink.
Al Diar Siji Hotel pastry chef Sherwin Pronk said: “You also have the option to further personalise your image by adding text in a variety of fonts.
“We can do multiple pictures to be placed on the top, the side or on different layers of the cake.”
According to Pronk the process is good for the environment and the printer used in the process of transferring the images rice paper is HACCP certified.
“We are also helping the environment by reducing plastic waste in cake decorations,” added Pronk.
