Homestead Restaurant and Bakery opens in Dubai's The Yard
Home-grown eatery Homestead Restaurant and Bakery has opened at Dubai’s The Yard, located in the neighbourhood of Al Khawaneej.
The interiors offer an "upcycled barn-like ambience" and the concept also has alfresco dining options with views of a lake and floral canopy bridge.
Seating 234 guests and spanning 808.4 square metres, the space includes a restaurant that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and an adjoining in-house bakery and pastry kitchen that serves handcrafted artisanal bread, pastries, and cakes all day. The bakery produces breads like wild yeast sourdough, ciabatta, and chebabs, baked fresh every day.
The restaurant offers a multitude of traditional cuisines to choose from, including Emirati, Indian, and Persian with a local twist, as well as international favourites. Using organic and sustainably sourced ingredients where possible, the menu also includes detox options.
The head chef Mahmoud Efranjyeh was one of the contenders on the 2017 season of the MBC reality show Top Chef. The menu features dishes including lamb machbous, diyay tahta, kebab Emirati, butter chicken, saffron risotto, double-baked goat cheese and walnut soufflé, and healthy salads.
Head pastry chef Marinos Kosmas has created the peach melba, labneh saffron cheesecake, saffron milk cake, and Greek-style savoury pies including spanakopita.
The drinks menu serves a choice of traditional coffee and organic tea, detox juices, aromatic herb-infused drinks, and speciality concoctions such as mango cardamom lassi, vegan choco banana smoothie, and celery pineapple chia smoothie.
The eatery includes a retail element that sells organic honey, tea, and freshly baked bread onsite.
