New Zealand water Antipodes wins gold at international water awards
New Zealand’s Antipodes Water Company won gold in the best sparkling water category at the 28th Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting and Awards was held at Berkeley Spring, West Virginia, USA on February 24, 2018.
Close to 100 water brands from five continents were represented at the world’s longest running water awards. Besides its gold win, the water company was also recognised in the third place in the best packaging category.
Antipodes water comes from a 327m (1,000 ft) deep pressured aquifer, which takes up to 300 years to naturally filter through substrata of ignimbrite, a fine-grained volcanic rock, the company said in a statement. The water source is located in Whakatane in the rural Bay of Plenty of New Zealand. Antipodes water is available in glass bottles of 1,000 ml and 500 ml. The water company also carries a carbonNZero programme certification, and has been acknowledged by the United Nations for its environmental responsibility.
Antipodes Water Company general manager Deborah McLaughlin noted in a statement that this was a second win for the company since first entering and winning gold in 2006 at the same event.
