Dubai F&B chief says 100% restaurant booking fees are “too high”
Addmind founder and chief executive Tony Habre has said F&B venues in Dubai should not be asking customers to pay a 100% deposit for meals upon reservation.
In comments to Arabian Business, the hospitality chief said that while he agrees with implementing a booking fee on busy days for businesses, he believes it shouldn’t exceed 30-40% of an average check.
With Dubai cutting municipality fees on sales at local restaurants from 10% to 7% recently in a bid to reduce the cost of doing business in the city, customers would have expected to see those saving passed on – but not all are.
Habre’s firm Addmind operates a number of F&B concepts across the Middle East, including Matto, Iris and Indie in Dubai, and he confirmed to Arabian Business that none will be introducing a 100% deposit.
