Dubai restaurant industry think-tank launched
Bench Events has launched a think tank for the Dubai restaurant industry, revealing this during the Global Restaurant Investment Forum (GRIF) 2018.
Bench Events managing director Middle East Jennifer Pettinger-Haines said in a statement: "We’re not just proud to share the news about the launch of GRIF Society, the international members network for the global restaurant investment community, but we’re also announcing the launch of the Dubai Restaurant Industry Think Tank, which will be incubated under the GRIF Society initiative as an independent member’s forum, to represent, support, educate and promote all industry-players and play a critical and central role in shaping the agenda for the restaurant industry for the years ahead."
Revealing more on-stage, Kieran Mallon, general manager – F&B for Al Futtaim Retail, said: “The industry has grown over the past decade and we have seen it get more complex - and there’s more innovation. We are going from a market where we bring in different concepts and brands to one where we’re growing them ourselves.
“However what we need to do as an industry is to come together. So what we want to do is have a think-tank to formulate what is the best thing for us as an industry. It will help us to generate more dialogue between us and the public sector, produce actionable insights and marketing intelligence with real data, help us to unify best practices, and most important, it will help the industry to evolve as we as the industry want it to evolve.”
David Singleton, the area vice president EMEA/South Asia, franchise operations & development for Hard Rock Café, added that the think tank will represent the F&B and hospitality industry. He noted: "We want to spend meaningful time over this, and involve the wider industry to make it happen."
