It’s the biggest night of the footballing calendar as France take on Croatia in the FIFA World Cup final, and a global audience of up to a billion people is expected to be watching, but where can you do so in Dubai?
While most sports bars and pubs can be counted on to be showing it, some are going above and beyond. The Hilton Doubletree JBR has a big screen overlooking the pool so if the game gets too much for you you can cool off. There are a number of food and drinks specials on offer, including deals specific to the countries playing, e.g. Nutella Crepes for France.
If you have your sea legs you can head aboard The Queen Elizabeth 2 where the Pavilion Stadium is an air-conditioned tent with giant screens, comfy seating, and surround sound. Also on-board the QE2 is the traditional British pub The Golden Lion, so although England may not have made it to the final, you can watch it as though you were in a pub back in London.
There’s another big tent at Atlantis, The Palm, where no matter your age everyone is welcome to go along and enjoy the game. There’s a specially designated area for fans aged six an above with face painting and fun on offer. The main tent is split into two zones with The Stadium for the die-hard fans and The Bench for those who prefer to kick back and relax on comfortable chairs while playing the Playstation.
Can’t get along to watch the football but around downtown Dubai? You’ll be able to keep fully up to date with the score thanks to the world’s highest football scoreboard projected live onto the Burj Khalifa.
