Dubai has more restaurants per million residents than New York, London, and Singapore according to the KPMG UAE F&B Report 2018.
Only Paris has a larger restaurant footprint than the UAE city, however when overnight visitors are factored in, London does move above Dubai.
Dubai has 2,935 concepts per million residents, compared with 2,911 in New York and 3,656 in Paris. London has 2,772 and Singapore has 1,320.
The report indicated that the UAE’s F&B market will continue to grow despite “challenging” market conditions, with retail space increasing at an annual rate of 8.7% and F&B comprising a rising percentage of the retail mix.
There is a continued push towards value in consumer behaviour with KPMG saying that “noteworthy, premium outlets have witnessed a decline in diners and average ticket sizes”. This was attributed to a reduction in beverage spend.
