Ministry of Crab, Sri Lanka’s most renowned restaurant and currently placed at number 35 on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list, could soon be coming to the UAE.
Following a successful pop-up with Shangri-La hotels in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the chef behind the concept, Dharshan Munidasa, has told Caterer Middle East that he hopes to bring it to the country permanently in the future.
When asked about the possibility of it happening, he said: “I hope so. We are looking at fixing the crab supply to do exactly that.”
For its flagship Colombo branch, and its other outlets in Manila, Shanghai, and Mumbai, Ministry of Crab operates a ‘no freezer’ policy meaning that all its produce must be caught and used while fresh.
It was a problem even while operating the single-day pop-ups in April, but Munidasa said that the Ministry of Crab team are locating sources in Africa which could be suitable for a permanent UAE venue.
