An Arabic restaurant in Dubai has quietly been giving away around 30-35 meals a day to the hungry for the past year.
Foul W Hummus owner Fadi Ayyad has been promoting his good deed through a simple sign in the window of his Al Barsha 1 restaurant, according to Khaleej Times.
"This is no publicity stunt," said Ayyad, adding: "We put that notice because we wanted everyone to feel welcome. People pass by our restaurant, and many of them are hungry but may not have money, so when they see the sign they can just come in. And the food is absolutely free for the needy."
The Jordanian expat said they regularly served the same people, including one Australian woman with “some problems” who came every day for almost a year.
Foul W Hummus has three branches in Dubai, with another set to to open on Sheikh Zayed Road soon.
According to Ayyad, the humanitarian scheme had not cost them any money, and instead boosted business.
