A campaign launched by McDonald’s through social media app Snapchat has seen more than 42,000 people apply for jobs.
Launched in October through Snapchat Lens, McDonald’s was aiming to receive 10,000 applications to fill 850+ positions including manager trainees, baristas, and delivery drivers, but the campaign smashed all expectations.
As a country, Saudi Arabia is one of the heaviest users of Snapchat, with more than nine million users out of a total population of 33 million.
Prince Majed bin Fahad Al Saud, executive director of HR at Riyadh International Catering Corporation, developmental licensee of McDonald's restaurants in the Central, Eastern and Northern regions of Saudi Arabia said: “Our latest initiative utilizes Snapchat to allow job seekers to apply to McDonald’s in a fun, simple and innovative way at the comfort of their homes.”
The campaign was targeted at Saudi nationals as the company aims to improve its Saudisation targets.
