Zomato has followed the example of Talabat and will offer commission and renewal fees deferrals to some of its restaurant partners.
Eligible restaurants will receive either 50% or 100% deferrals of commissions and/or renewal fees, with the fees to be paid back at a later date, which Zomato said will be continually re0evaluated and worked out with its partners based on market conditions.
It follows on from Zomato’s other initiatives including Gold Support and its relief funds for delivery partners.
But does it go far enough? Many in the restaurant industry are asking for a reduction in commissions, not simply a deferral which will still need to be paid back further down the line.
