A group of local Dubai restaurants planning to launch their own delivery app to take on the likes of Zomato and Deliveroo are set to host a webinar on Wednesday, May 13.

The UAE Restaurant Community is a group of over 100 F&B outlets and it will host a talk on 'Replacing the destructive international third party delivery systems with local restaurant owned delivery partnership delivery system' on Zoom at 4pm GST.

Among the speakers will be Anurag Katiar, president of the National Restaurant Association of India, who will discuss how the industry needs to become self-reliant and reduce its dependence on aggregators who have become new age digital landlords.

He'll be joined by Jon Sewell, president of Motus Food Delivery and chairman of Chomp Food Delivery, who will explain how restaurant owners in Colorado successfully implemented a similar project, and Iiko Middle East CEO Leo Komissarov who will introduce the UAE Restaurant Community and what it aims to achieve with the local restaurant delivery system.
