F&B venues in Dubai are allowed to provide live entertainment for customers once more, according to the latest circular from Dubai Tourism.
The new regulations allow for single performers only, such as DJs and lone singers, but do not allow group bands yet.
All performers must wear masks and perform on a dedicated stage, and are not allowed any physical interaction with the audience. There must be a minimum of 2m physical distance between the performance areas and the audience.
The social distancing requirements are to be adhered to throughout the venue also, with no crowding of spectators or dancing that breaks the rules.
The new ruling does not apply to bars and night clubs which are still not permitted to open, and customers cannot sit on the bar counter stools. Flashing lights or any club-like ambience is still banned.
Dubai’s F&B scene is slowly returning to normal, with opening hours recently relaxed and outlets reporting a positive reception to reopening.
Many restaurateurs are now hoping that the 2m social distancing requirement will be reduced to 1m to allow them to operate at something closer to full capacity as they look to make up for the lost revenue of the last few months.
