The latest delivery platform hoping to shake up the UAE’s food scene has gone live with more than 2,000 restaurants on board.
GoFood is run by the restaurant owners themselves, meaning delivery fees go directly to the restaurants, allowing them to help lower delivery costs and manage their expenses and data better without the involvement of third party aggregators.
Shanavas Mohammed, one of GoFood’s founders and the managing director of Golden Fork Seafood Restaurants, said: “Restaurants were making a loss on every order through the existing delivery apps. Beyond the fees, during the global pandemic, we realised that they weren’t being good partners by refusing to lower exorbitant commissions. A group of seasoned restaurant operators with over a 100+ years of combined industry experience have, therefore, come together to deliver a solution that supports both restaurant operators and gives the customer an ethical alternative to the current trend.:
The new app is also hoping to entice customers to order direct from their favourite restaurants by introducing a loyalty scheme that will see them earn AED1 for every AED10 spent on the platform. For a limited period, new customers will also receive AED200 worth of loyalty points when they download the app, which is available on iOS and Android.
