Dubai restaurants to receive 50% refund on municipality sales fee

It currently stands at 7%, and the refund is in effect between July and December 2020

As part of a new stimulus package worth AED1.5 billion dirhams, restaurants in Dubai will receive a 50% refund on the 7% municipality sales fee between July and December 2020.

Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council revealed the initiative which is being implemented under the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE.

Also applying to hotels, the rebate is aimed at boosting the F&B industry which is struggling under the weight of new regulations implemented to help fight the coronavirus pandemic.

Currently bars in Dubai remain permanently closed, while restaurants can only operate under strict social distancing which has affected the number of customers they can have in store at one time.
