First ever plant-based food company listed on Nasdaq

Beyond Meat, the plant-based food company behind the Beyond Burger, has become the first company of its kind to be listed on the Nasdaq.

With an IPO of US$25, Beyond Meat quickly surged 163%, according to CNBC, to a market value of US$3.77 billion.


Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed Bin Talal, an outspoken vegan who has called dairy “the root of all evil”, is an investor in the meat alternative through his KBW Ventures company.

Writing on Facebook about the announcement of the news, Prince Khaled said he was “really proud of this moment in the history KBW Ventures!”

The Beyond Burger has been available at Bareburger stores in the UAE since 2018, and recently opened Pickl in Dubai’s JLT is one of a number of other outlets to stock the plant-based treat.

Prince Khaled also recently announced he would be bringing his vegan menu Folia to the Middle East with chef Matthew Kenney.
