UAE-based Madar Farms is now selling its locally grown produce direct to consumers through three online platforms.
It’s the first time the farm has sold its produce to consumers, and it will offer seven varieties of microgreens including pea shoots, arugula, tendril peas, and daikon radish.
The AgTech company has partnered with FreshOnTable, Narinport, and Barakat to deliver its produce to consumers, and looks set to expand its offering in the near future.
Abdulaziz AlMulla, CEO and Founder of Madar Farms, said: “In these challenging times, it is more important than ever to eat and shop local - and across the UAE we are seeing an increasing move towards this. By working with FreshOnTable, Narinport and Barakat, we will be able to make our produce available directly to consumers for the first time and reach out to even more people across the UAE.
“We are responding to this current demand that we’re facing today, partnering with our online ordering and delivery partners to service people across the Emirates. When our customers receive their produce, it will be clean, safe and fresh as all our products are delivered within 24 hours of harvesting.
“This is just the beginning of offering directly to consumers as we plan to launch more products in the coming weeks.
“We look forward to hearing about some of the delicious recipes people are cooking up at home using our microgreens!”
Now in its third year of operation, Madar Farms recently announced plans to quadruple the quantity of microgreens it produces when its new facility begins operating at Khalifa Industrial Abu Dhabi Zone by the end of this year.
The move into consumer retail comes as many suppliers are struggling to sell their produce to restaurants due to the enforced coronavirus lockdown, with several telling Caterer Middle East of their plans to do the same.
